This is who I am

About Alexandrina

Alexandrina Simeon calls both Bulgaria and Germany her home. Born in Varna on the Black Sea, the singer, composer, and bandleader has been living in Augsburg for many years. She found her musical voice in jazz—a genre whose openness and permeability provide fertile ground for her cultural roots. The renowned ALEXANDRINA SIMEON QUINTET has already captivated audiences at festivals and concerts in both Germany and Bulgaria with the music from their debut album ROOTS & IINFLUENCE

Alexandrina’s repertoire spans from classical music to soul, pop, and gospel, as impressively demonstrated by numerous CD productions and diverse projects with Njamy Sitson, Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Gerd Dudek, Ryan Carniaux, Andrej Bielow, Heiko Jung, Wolfgang Roth, Rhani Krija, Benny Brown, and Jan Prax, as well as live television appearances on BR and ZDF.

As a soloist, she has performed Duke Ellington’s SACRED CONCERT as well as Steve Reich’s MUSIC FOR 18 MUSICIANS. Her first solo album featuring original compositions and lyrics, titled roots & influence, was released with the ALEXANDRINA SIMEON QUINTET on MONS Records in April 2011. The album OCEAN TALES, featuring guest artist Benny Brown on trumpet and flugelhorn, has been available on UNIT RECORDS Switzerland since March 2018.

Together with the a cappella ensemble MAGPIE ALLEY, she won two audience awards and the 1st prize in the “augmented” category at the international Vokal.Total competition in Graz in 2023.

In addition to her concert activities, the charismatic singer regularly serves as a jury member for the annual international pop vocal competition “Discovery” in Varna, Bulgaria, as well as for the regional “Jugend musiziert” competition in the pop vocal category. She also leads vocal workshops, teaches singing at the Musikwerkstatt Augsburg, and holds a teaching position in voice at the Department of Music Education and Didactics at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt.
