Alexandrina Simeon Quintett

Alexandrina Simeon calls both Bulgaria and Germany her home. Born in Varna on the Black Sea, the singer, composer, and bandleader has lived in Augsburg for many years. She found her musical voice in jazz—a genre whose openness and permeability offer fertile ground for her cultural roots. The renowned ALEXANDRINA SIMEON QUINTET has already captivated audiences at festivals and concerts in Germany and Bulgaria with the music of their debut album ROOTS & INFLUENCE.

Particularly the album OCEAN TALES, released in spring 2018 on UNIT RECORDS, shines a light on Alexandrina Simeon’s homeland. Listeners encounter the Bulgarian language, ancient melodies and rhythms from the musical heritage of Eastern Europe—artfully intertwined with Western European jazz and crowned by a brilliant guest performance from Benny Brown of Hamburg. Together, the band surrounding this dynamic Bulgarian artist ignites a true firework of melodies, moods, and grooves—Bulgarian vocal jazz at its finest.

The recording features various ensemble settings—from duo to sextet—with special guest Benny Brown from Hamburg. Great strength can emerge from stillness, and powerful music may come to rest. The album was released in May 2025 by the Bremen-based label Laika Records.

“An intimate, lovingly arranged declaration of love to the jazz standards repertoire… presented with… brilliance and smooth elegance.”

Simeon/Eberhard Duo

The first musical encounter between Alexandrina Simeon (vocals) and Daniel Mark Eberhard (piano) in 2005 marked the beginning of a close collaboration and numerous performances on stages large and small, both in Germany and abroad. Whether performing as the Alexandrina Simeon Quintet or as a duo, the two share an intuitive musical connection. The program—featuring well-known jazz standards, pop and soul classics, as well as original compositions—offers a soundscape rich in color, lightness, and musical passion.

„Singer Alexandrina Simeon and pianist Daniel Mark Eberhard transformed the Aula Academicus into an oversized jazz lounge in no time at all with their playful and bold jazz interpretations of well-known works.
